The River

North East Trees is involved with projects that are part of the Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan which includes many communities and neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles and the river’s tributary watershed.

KCET has collected video “Story Share” documentaries from people who have experienced the LA River over the years, and who share their memories. Scott Wilson speaks about his commitment to planting trees and educating youth on Dec. 4, 2010 at Elysian Valley, in a segment called 20 Years Later.  Aaron Thomas of NET’s staff also talks about the river and the work that NET has done to improve the river and its habitat.

Below is a 27-minute movie by Fred Kaplan about the Los Angeles River and how communities and organizations are starting to change the ecology of the river and restore natural processes through community action.  North East Trees is participating in related projects which provide rain gardens and watershed restoration as this plan is implemented.
